Rehabilitation of Lyari Expressway project victims starts

The shiftees of Lyari Expressway project have started arriving at the site of their new abode, the Taisar Town, under the second phase of their rehabilitation being carried out under Lyari Expressway Resettlement project.
In order to provide transport facilities to the shiftees at the new site, the Project Director, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, on Saturday held a meeting with transporters.
The meeting was attended by President Karachi Transport Ittehad, Irshad Hussain Bukhari and General Secretary Khalid Hussain Awan besides the project officials.
The leaders of Transport Ittehad assured of their all possible co-operation for providing transport facilities to Taisar Town shiftees.
The meeting was informed that at Hawksbay resettlement site, buses of various routes are available. These include Shiraz Coach and buses of route 1-C.
Before the start of resettlement process, only few buses used to ply from this point and today their number has largely grown. In Taisar Town, at present buses of D-17 and 4-S routes are available.
It was decided that transport facilities for Hawksbay and Taisar Town housing projects would be further increased and more buses of different routes will be operated from the two sites.
The meeting was told that a site has been earmarked at Hawksbay for bus terminal while for terminals at other sites will also be provided.
