Special care of mangoes stressed to enhance its exports

MULTAN: The agriculture department urged growers to take special care of vegetables and fruits especially mangoes for maximum export and earn handsome return.

Assistant Director Agriculture Information Naveed Asmat Kohloon in a statement issued here informed that Pakistan exported 127,000 tonnes of mangoes during year 2015.

The demand of Pakistani vegetables and fruits especially mangoes were on rise in international markets. Mango was cultivated at 271,700 acres in Punjab.

He urged mango growers to adopt latest technology for improving export of mangoes further.

The quantity could be enhanced further by improving the fruits handling. Post harvest handling, grading, packing and transportation is of vital importance for enhancing exports and earning maximum.

He stressed upon farmers to take advisory and other assistance from agriculture department.
