Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four C.V Maersk Memphis, C.V CMA CGM La Traviata, M.T Beech and M.T Shalamar carrying containers, palm oil and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Meanwhile two more ships C.V Maersk Savannah and C.V Al-Hadbaa scheduled to load/offload containers also arrive at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 76% on Tuesday where a total of nine ships namely, C.V Maersk memphis, C.V CMA CGM La traviata, C.V E.R Vancouver, C.V Al-Safat, M.V KM Tokyo, M.T Shalamar, M.T Tomson Gas, M.T Bunga Akasia and m.T Beech were occupied PQA berths to load/offload containers, soyo bean seeds, palm oil, diesel oil, LPG and LNG respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 98,228 tonnes, comprising 76,378 tonnes imports and 21,850 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,073 containers (TEUs(1,923 TEUs imports and 1,150 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.

LPG carrier Tomson Gas sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another containers ship Maersk Memphis is expected to sail on sameday afternoon.

Three sips C.V Maers Savannah, C.V MSC Rita and M.V Soldoy carrying containers and 37,500 tonnes coal are expected to take berths at container Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday, while M.T Okyroo carrying furnace oil is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day and container ships 'CMA CGM Maupassant is due to arrive on Friday.
