Ebad calls for British investment

KARACHI: The Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, Monday said that investment from Britain in country was the need of the hour.

He was talking to the UK High Commissioner in Pakistan, Thomas Drew, who called on him at the Governor House here.

The British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, John A. Tucknott, was also present on the occasion.

The Governor said that Pak-British ties span over several decades and are further strengthening with the passage of time.

He stated that fostering prosperity and eradication of unemployment and poverty in the region including Pakistan, was the need of the hour.

Ebad also called for steps for enhancing bilateral trade, investment in infrastructure, health, education and transfer of technology especially in the energy sector.

He pointed out that after restoration of peace, the trend for investment in the province had increased.

The UK High Commissioner said that British companies in Pakistan especially in the province of Sindh were engaged in profitable business.

He pointed out that British investors were also interested in investment in solid waste management.

The Envoy also spoke of the British collaboration in the realms of health and education.
