Abid directs for proper functioning of complaint centre

MULTAN: State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Thursday directed officials of the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) to make complaint centre proper functional to address complaints timely during Ramzan.

Presiding over a meeting at the Mepco's Headquarters here, he said unscheduled loadsheding in urban and rural areas across the region would not be tolerated, added that stern action would be taken against those officials if people will stage a protest demonstration due to negligence of officials concerned.

He directed the officials to prepare a schedule for providing uninterrupted power supply to consumers during Sehar and Iftar in Ramzan.

Meanwhile, CEO Mepco Fazalullah Durrani briefed the minister that complaint redressal centre had been set up at Mepco's Headquarters for quick solution of consumers complaints and staff was performing duty in three shifts.

He said electricity loadsheding was being made six hours in urban areas, eight hours in rural areas and 12 hours at high losses feeders under a load management plan while uninterrupted power supply was being provided to the industrial sector.

He said 2,471 transformers had been released during the recent fiscal year to improve the distribution system, complete low tension schemes and change burnt transformers.
