Senate body reviews progress on corruption cases in Pak PWD KP

PESHAWAR: Senate Standing Committee for Housing and Works on Wednesday held here a meeting to review progress on corruption cases in Pak PWD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and on-going development projects.

The committee meeting chaired by its chairman Senator Haji Akram Ansari addressing the members informed that the federal government initiated several projects in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that a total 435 projects were approved for the province, while work on 421 project could be initiated that would be completed by June this year.

The chairman said that Rs. 1236 million would be spent on the projects that include construction of IB office in Kohat, eight suits at federal lodges at Shami road in Peshawar, construction of houses for category III and IV employees in Hayatabad Peshawar and residential project for low income employees in Balochistan.

The committee was briefed on action taken against corrupt elements who were involved in embezzlement in projects of Pak PWD.

The meeting was attended by Senators Rana Zahid Hussain, Sajid Nawaz, Ghulam Sarwar, Tahira Orangzaib, Saqib Azeem, Ch. Sarwar Awan, Khalid Mansoor, Nighat Parveen Mir and Pir Noor Muhammad Shah Jilani, Secretary Housng and Works, Joint Secretary Housing and Works, Director General Pak PWD, Chief Engineer North, Chief Engineer Planning and other officials.
