Commissioner inaugurates anti-polio drive

KARACHI: Commissioner of Karachi, Syed Asif Haider Shah inaugurated anti- polio campaign by administering polio drops to a child at Sindh Government Hospital, here on Tuesday.

The 4- day anti- polio drive will continue till May 27 in all 188 union councils of city, said a statement. Over 22 lacs children will be administered anti- polio drops during the Campaign.

Around 7 thousand teams will take part in the drive while the Police and Rangers have made special arrangements for the security of polio teams.

Commissioner Karachi, Syed Asif Haider Shah said that all out efforts are being made to eliminate polio disease.

He appealed the parents to cooperate with anti- polio teams.

He said a helpline 1299 has also been established, which will operate 24 hours. On the occasion, Secretary Health, Ahmed Bakhsh Narejo, Deputy Commissioner, Korangi, Muhammad Zaman, WHO's team leader for Sindh, Dr. Temesgen Demeke and others were also present.
