Two alleged militants killed, constable injured in cross-firing incident

PESHAWAR: At least two alleged militants laced with automatic weapons were killed while a policeman injured in an encounter occurred during a routine police search operation in Topai area, District Swabi on Saturday.

According to police control Swabi, the police personnel were carrying out a routine search operation in Kalabat village of Khazana area of Swabi district, when the alleged militants opened firing at them. One official of Elite police force was injured in the firing.

The police, in retaliation to the firing, killed both the militants on the spot. The police also recovered weapons and explosive from their position. The injured policeman identified as Ammad Khan, received bullet injury to his hand and was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital.

Meanwhile, the security forces in joint operation in Risalpur area of District Nowshera arrested 28 suspects. The security forces also recovered weapons from some of the arrested suspects, who have been shifted to unknown location for interrogation.
