ANP not to support anti-democratic force: Asfandyar Wali

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan on Friday categorically said that the ANP would not support any anti-democratic force.

He said that his party was against the politics of agitation which could adversely affect the ongoing process of development in the country and derail the democratic process, ANP spokesman and former provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated this on Friday.

The spokesman said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and discussed the current political scenario arisen in the context of Panama papers leaks. He also inquired after the health of the ailing ANP leader.

The spokesman said that senior politician and ANP leader Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour was also present on the occasion.

About Panama papers issue, the JUI-F chief said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was not accused of any illegality but despite of that, he had presented himself for accountability. He hailed the agreement between opposition and government over formation of parliamentary committee on terms of reference for the judicial commission.

He said that the negative politics of Imran Khan was spoiling the youth.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the ANP had clear stance on Panama papers and so Asfandyar told the JUI-F chief that ANP would not support anyone derailing the democratic process or any agitation against the elected government.
