SHC rejects bail plea of four murder accused

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday rejected the bail applications of four accused, facing charges of setting a man ablaze.

The accused, Ghulam Abbas, and his relatives Siddique, Shafiq Ahmed and Rafiq were allegedly involved in setting a man namely Waqas over family dispute in 2015.

The applicants submitted that they were innocent and were falsely implicated in the case. They requested the court to grant them bail before arrests.

After going through the arguments, the SHC dismissed the bail applications of all the accused. The trial court had already dismissed the bail before applications filed by the accused. According to the accused, they are involved in the murder of Waqas in fact it was a suicide.

Waqas got burned on 24th April 2015 and later died in the hospital. As per deceased statement given before the death, he was set ablaze by his in laws Siddique and his relatives when he was sleeping in his home.

‘I was sleeping at my home's roof and awoke suddenly when some people throw oil on me. I jumped from the roof but the accused caught me and thrown match stick on me with intention to kill,’ Waqas stated in FIR, PPI reported.

The accused denied Waqas' claims and stated that they were innocent and were falsely implicated in the case. They maintained that the deceased was not murdered it was a suicide.
