Ebad for further strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh economic ties

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad has emphasised the need to further strengthen economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The Governor was talking to a nine-member Bangladeshi media delegation which led by Saiful Huda called on the Governor at Governor House here on Tuesday, according to a handout issued here.

The Governor said that the forthcoming SAARC conference to be held in Pakistan would enable member countries to explore new avenues of close cooperation and help develop better understanding on common issues and problems faced by SAARC countries.

Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad hoped that the SAARC forum would provide a great opportunity for the member countries to resolve outstanding issues for the economic uplift of the people of the region.

Responding to a question, the Governor said that Pakistan has taken successful measures to eliminate terrorism under National Action Plan, as terrorism-related incidents have been considerably controlled.

He said conducive atmosphere in the country, particularly in Karachi, has attracted foreign investors, and they are being offered various incentives for investment.

The Governor said the media in Pakistan is very vibrant and enjoys complete freedom to express their views, adding that the government encourages the media to critically analyse policies to help further improve its performance.

Director General PID Karachi, Syed Sikandar Ali, was also present in the meeting.
