KP CM directs immediate arrest of accused involved in Galiyat incident

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has termed the incident of burning of a girl alive in Galiyat as sorrowful and condemnable.

He directed police for immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the incident. Responding to the point of order of Amna Sardar, Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha of PML-N and Sardar Idrees of PTI, the CM said that he had directed police for conducting investigation into the incident.

He said that the culprits involved in this heinous crime will be tried in Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) to provide speedy justice to the family of the victim. He said that the government and opposition are united over the incident and will announce compensation for the affected family.

The Pakistan Muslim League-N women legislator from Galiyat said that after molestation, the girl was burnt alive in Suzuki van.

She condemned the incident and expressed sorrow over it.

She demanded of the provincial government for identification of the accused so that punishment could be given to the responsible element.

Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha, parliamentary leader of PML-N in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and MPA from the area said that before putting on fire she was tied inside the vehicle.

He said that the incident had spread fear and harassment in the area.

He said the CM should take stern notice of the incident and direct police for arrest of the accused for giving exemplary punishment.

Sardar Mohammad Idrees of PTI said that on the directives of the CM, he along with Special Assistant to CM, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani and local residents have expressed satisfaction over the action of police.

He said that who-so-ever involved in the incident, will be awarded punishment. He said Galiyat is a peaceful area and occurring of such incident is unpardonable.

The provincial government, he said had taken serious notice of the incident and directed the administration for investigation into the matter.

The Special Assistant to KP CM on Information, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani told the house that Abbottabad Police is investigating the incident and had arrested several persons in that regard.

He was confident that in next 24 hours, the real culprits will be in the grip of law. He said that three different investigation teams are working on the case and forensic report is also in progress, he added.
