More posts of judges to be created to dispose of pending cases: Khuhro

KARACHI: Senior Sindh Minister for Education and Parliamentary Affairs, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that there was a dire to create more posts of judges of Sindh High Court (SHC) to dispose of pending cases in the court.

He said this while speaking on the occasion of questions and answers hours during Sindh Assembly session held at Assembly Building Monday.

There are 40 sanctioned posts of SHC judges, while 32 are working there, he said adding such situation led to huge backlog of cases in the court.

Sometimes, it is seen that if any person lodges petition with courts,the decisions were announced during third generation (grandchildren), he added.

More posts of judges should be created and also the appointments on the created posts should be made to cope with rising backlog of cases in the court, he added.

Moreover, people are approaching directly to the courts to lodge the complaints with courts and Apex court is taking suo moto notice of the issues, he said.

People are asked to fax or email their complaints to lower courts and SHC, if they could not approach the court directly to lodge petitions and it would be deemed petition, he said adding such situation also increased number of cases to be disposed of by the Judges.

In reply to another question asked, he said that there were 303 societies of women which were working for improving socio-economic conditions of families.
