Wheat of Rs130bn to be purchased from growers

MULTAN: The Punjab government will spend Rs 130 billion to purchase over 4 million metric ton wheat from growers.

According to assistant director information agriculture Naveed Asmat Kohloon, 376 wheat purchase centres have been set up across the province where wheat would be procured at the rate of Rs 1300/40 kg.

A special computerized system has been introduced for the registration of farmers. The farmers would be issued 10 gunny bags against one acre this year, he informed. About issuance of gunny bags procedure, the agriculture department officer informed that small farmers would be given priority.

Citizen feedback facility is also ensured to address complaints regarding purchase. The list of farmers and cultivation area would be displaced at the centre and farmers could also contact assistant commissioner for correction of the name or other particulars in this regard.
