Opposition violates rules by waving Panaflex banners in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Thursday regretted the waving of Panaflex banners by opposition members in the house in clear violation of rules and directed for examining of handbags of women members at entry points in future.

During session of the Punjab Assembly on Thursday, opposition leader Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed sought permission to read an adjournment motion over Panama leaks out of turn.

The speaker asked him to follow the rules. But the opposition leader and other members stood up on their desks and waved Panaflex banners in the house and chanted slogans as well.

The speaker asked how the Panaflex banners were brought in the house, and ordered proper investigation into the matter.

MPA Mian Tariq, on a point of order, said action should be taken against the opposition members as no precedent could be found of such an illegal act in the history.
