Cabinet Secretariat spent Rs3.2bn out of its allocated budget

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat was informed on Wednesday that an amount of Rs 3.2 billion out of the total allocated budget for the Secretariat had been spent so far.

The senate body met under the chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood at Parliament House.

The committee discussed the budgetary allocations and its utilizations for the financial year 2015-16 of the departments, Autonomous Bodies, Corporation and Authorities including Cabinet Division, National Archives of Pakistan, Department of Communications Security, Pakistan Tourism Development and Intellectual Property Organization.

Secretary Cabinet Division Nadeem Hassan Asif informed the committee that Rs 6.78 billions were allocated for the financial year 2015-16 in which Rs 3.2 billions had been spent.

He said till May 2016 the amount Rs 165 million would be surrendered.

The Committee Chairman Talha Mehmood said at one side there are so many departments where funds are not available to pay the salaries to employees and on other departments are surrendering their excessive funds.

He said budget should be prepared according to requirements of departments who are bound to spend their budget according to rules and regulations.
