Kardar appointed SBP governor?

KARACHI (September 07 2010): Noted economist Shahid H. Kardar has been appointed as Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), according to sources. Accompanied by Defence Minister Ahmad Mukhtar, Kardar met Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at Islamabad. The Prime Minister is said to have congratulated him upon his appointment as new SBP governor. Earlier, Kardar had met President Zardari, at Karachi.

Sources said his appointment as governor SBP has been finalised and now a notification is awaited. Known as a man of high integrity, Kardar has been serving as chairman of the Prime Minister's task force on education for quite some time. He has served as a member of Task Force Administrative Reforms Committee headed Dr Ishrat Husain.
