KARACHI: In the wake of operation Zarb-i-Azb under the National Action Plan, Pakistan has emerged as a peaceful country in the region.

There was no such example in the near past, said the Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, while talking to the Ambassador of Argentina, Rodolf J. Martin Saravia.

The Envoy had called on Ebad at the Governor House here on Thursday.

The Governor was of the view that owing to challenges in the past, a negative impression of Pakistan was coming to the fore.

However, the political and military leadership as well as the people of Pakistan came up with the National Action Plan and initiated operation Zarb-i--Azb which broke the back of the terrorists in a short span of time.

The terrorists were on the run and the international community is now acknowledging that Pakistan is a peaceful country where people have security as elsewhere.

The Governor said that the National Action Plan was not confined to operation Zarb-i-Azb, but under it widespread development work was also undertaken.

He also pointed out that a greater water supply project- K-IV, has also been initiated in the metropolis.

The mass transit programme which was stalled for years, has also been revived in collaboration with the federal government.

Dr. Ebad pointed out that the work has also been taken up on Green, Orange, Yellow and Brown lines. Circular railway is also being redesigned.

The existing parks in the city are being restored and new ones are being established.

The Governor said that Pakistan is a very suitable country for investment.

The Envoy said that investors from Argentina are coming up with investment in Pakistan.

He stated that they will also soon invest in energy sector, agriculture and infrastructure.

Pak-Argentina joint investment in various mega projects is also expected, the Envoy added.
