ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Convener Sub-Committee of Parliamentary Reforms, Zahid Hamid Thursday informed the National Assembly that the committee had prepared a draft of seven separate laws regarding electoral reforms which would be tabled in the House after its approval from the parliamentary committee.

Responding to a question, he said there was a consensus in the committee to introduce electoral reforms in conducting the coming elections in a transparent manner and to avoid complaints of rigging.

He informed the house that the parliamentary reforms committee headed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and its sub-committee had convened 51 meetings till date where all stakeholders were being consulted.

Responding to a question, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said that the government was ready for delimitation of constituencies after consensus.

He said the government had decided to hold census in March 2016 to know about actual population of the country and the delimitation would be carried out according to it. Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbsi said if delimitation was done in 2013 it was against the constitution. He referred the delimitation issue to the relevant standing committee and asked to submit its report.
