CM for early preparation of draft law for drug testing agency

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that setting up of Punjab Food Forensic and Drug Testing Agency (PFFDTA) was imperative for elimination of spurious and substandard medicines and draft law for this purpose, should be prepared as early as possible.

He was addressing a meeting through video link at Civil Secretariat.

The matters regarding establishment of PFFDTA were considered in the meeting.

The Chief Minister (CM) said that just as drug testing laboratory of Lahore, the labs of Food and Agriculture Departments would also be upgraded on modern lines. He said the staff of these modern labs would be sent abroad for

training. He said that Punjab Food Forensic and Drug Testing Agency would play a key role in controlling adulterated food, adding that the agency would play an important role in provision of quality medicines and healthy food to the citizens.

Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique, Chief Secretary, concerned officials and Steve Wood and Stafford of LGC Lab Britain attended the meeting through video link.
