Provision of interest-free loans under BISP being considered: Marvi Memon

CHARSADDA: Federal Minister of State and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Marvi Memon on Wednesday said that a proposal was being considered to provide interest-free loans to marginalized women under Waseela-e-Rozgar Programme.

Addressing an event held here in connection with Waseela-e-Taleem and Waseela-e-Rozgar programmes of BISP, she said that as many as one million children including 80,000 of Charsadda were benefitting and getting free of cost education under Waseela-e-Taleem Programme in 32 districts of the country.

She said that some 22,000 children from across Pakistan including 5,000 from Charsadda district of KP completed their primary education under the programme, adding that the programme was being run successfully.

Marvi said that in the next phase the government was considering to provide interest-free loans to marginalized females under Waseela-e-Rozgar programme for setting up of handicraft centres.

She said that the programme aimed at facilitating socio-economic uplift of BISP beneficiaries through imparting vocational and technical skills enabling females to move out of generational poverty.

She said that the programme would promote sustainable poverty reduction by exploring national and overseas employment potential.

Marvi expressed happiness that the educational activities have resumed in Bacha Khan University after the terrorists' attack, adding that women of Chardsadda district are very brave and committed to get higher education.

She said war on terror was being fought by entire nation and political point scoring on any terrorist incident must not

be done.

On the occasion enquired after injured of terrorists' attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda and prayed for their early recovery.

Meanwhile she saw and appreciated pieces of handicraft made by the local females and asked the skilled women to submit their masterpieces at office of BISP so that they could be introduced at national and international levels and made a source of income for them. On the occasion she announced to introduce Charsadda 'Gurr; sweets, rice and other products in national and international markets.

She said a prosperous and peaceful Pakistan was the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and that he was committed to deliver it.
