Steps being taken to attract foreign investment: Jatoi

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Industries and Production, Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi here on Thursday said government was taking appropriate steps to attract foreign investment in country.

Talking to Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Hiroshi Inomata who met with him for paying a farewell call to him, the minister said that government was determined to provide all possible facilities to foreign investors for investing in the country.

He said that Bin Qasim Industrial Park would be modernized and made at par with international standards which would help promote the foreign direct investment.

The minister also apprised the Ambassador about the steps being taken by the government for sustainable economic development and eliminating terrorism from country.

He said due to negligence of past governments, economic growth effected and energy crisis took place which had slow down the pace of national economic growth and development.

The Ambassador also discussed ways and means to promote bilateral cooperation beside the promotion of bilateral trade and investment between both the countries.

He appreciated the economic polices of the government for revival of national economy and called for further improving the road infrastructure of the Korangi Industrial Park.

The Ambassador also apprised the minister about the investment made in Korangi Industrial Park by the Japanese investors and said that Japanese investors had invested for setting up a steel mill whcih would soon be inaugurated.

Hirosi Inomota also thanked the minister for providing facilities to Yamaha company for setting up its assembling plant at Korangi industrial park.
