Peerless Takanashi claims 10th triumph

07 Feb, 2016

BERLIN: Japan's Sara Takanashi continued her domination by picking up her 10th straight win of this season's ski jumping World Cup on Sunday when she triumphed in Hinzenbach, Austria.

The 19-year-old, who has made winning a habit, killed off the competition with an opening leap of 98.0 metres to win with a total of 260.1 points ahead of Austria's Daniela Irashko-Soltz (242.0pts) and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (240.3).

With 11 wins now in 12 competitions, Takanashi is on course to beat her own record of 15 wins set in the 2013-14 season.

The only blip on her near-perfect copy book this season was a second place at Russia's Nizhny Tagil in mid-December.

Takanashi has now extended her lead over over Austria's Iraschko-Soltz to 371 points with seven rounds left.

The Japanese will march on towards what looks like becoming her third overall World Cup title at Ljubno in Slovenia next weekend.
