Biggest package announced for affectees of Orange Train: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said the biggest package of history worth Rs 20 billion has been announced for the payment of compensation to owners of the land acquired for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project.

Addressing a meeting through video link at Civil Secretariat on Thursday which reviewed in detail the process of payment of compensation to the affectees of Orange Line Metro Train Project.

He said payments were being made to the landowners by meeting all demands of justice and interests of everyone would be safeguarded. He said due compensation would be paid to the owners of the land besides additional amounts were also be given as compensation for the constructed building, loss to business and relocation of residence.

The chief minister issued instructions to further accelerate pace of payment of compensation. He said that a comprehensive system had been evolved for payment of compensation and the entire process of verification was completed immediately at one-window payment centers set up under the new system.

The Chief Minister said only enemies to the development of Pakistan were opposing this splendid project of public welfare as they were hindering a process of prosperity of the country only for the achievement of their personal interests.

Chief Secretary, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority, Senior Member Board of Revenue, concerned Secretaries, Commissioner Lahore Division, DCO Lahore and senior officials attended the meeting through video link.
