The French winner of the Kitzbuehel combined event, who was to race all the season's super-G events in a bid to push for the overall title, will instead focus on a week of technical training ahead of the February 13-14 giant slalom and slalom races in the Japanese resort of Yuzawa Naeba.
After Japan, racers will return to Europe, with Pinturault targeting more success in the Chamonix super-combined on February 19.
It was an all-French podium in the Kitzbuehel combined last month, Pinturualt joined on the podium by Victor Muffat-Jeandet and Thomas Mermillod Blondin.
Before Chamonix, Muffat-Jeandet, standing second in the giant slalom standings, will race in Japan, while Mermillod Blondin has opted for Sunday's super-G in Jeongseon.
