Kasur scandal: ATC acquits three accused

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) Friday acquitted three accused- Ashfaq, Arshad and Ibrahim-involved in a rape case registered in connection with Kasur video scam.

ATC-IV Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas passed the orders while accepting an acquittal application filed by the accused.

During the hearing, accused' counsel arguing before the court submitted that Ganda Sigh Wala/Kasur police had registered FIR 324/15 against the accused for raping a girl in connection with Kasur scandal. He said that the police implicated the accused in baseless case as no evidence was available against them and witnesses had denied to identify the accused. He pleaded the court to acquit the accused being innocent.

To which, the court accepted the application and ordered to acquit the accused.

Ganda Singh Wala/Kasur police had registered a total of 31 cases in connection with the Kasur child abuse scandal against 20 accused. 25 cases were registered under sections of 506, 293, 387, 386 and 377 of the criminal procedure code and sections of Anti-Terrorism Act whereas six other cases were registered under sections of criminal procedure code alone.
