Salaries of daily wage teachers released; Senate told

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said on Thursday funds had been provided for daily wage teachers working in institutions of the federal capital.

Replying to a calling attention notice in the Senate, the minister said finance ministry had released Rs 140 million for salaries of daily wage teachers who had started receiving their cheques.

He said sincere efforts were being made for the rights of those teachers and principals of all institutions had been directed not to expel any teacher working on daily wage basis.

However, he added these employees had to be put to relevant rules and procedures to get their services regularized.

He informed a committee had been constituted on the directions of Islamabad High Court to examine the cases of these teachers who were 1,364 in number and working in educational institutions of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

Earlier, during a question-hour session, the minister said it was a fact that a notification was issued by the previous government to regularize the services of the daily wage employees working in educational institutions of Federal Directorate of Education and as a result, he added a total of 340 daily wage teachers were adjusted against available posts.

However, he added the remaining daily wagers could not be adjusted due to non-availability of seats.
