This coke breeze was produced as a by-product during charging of coal into metallurgical coke. The coke breeze is comparatively small in size than required coke size used in iron making, said a PS statement here on Thursday.

Pakistan Steel is currently facing the challenge of raw materials shortage and plans to find new sources to continue its production.

After this successful experiment, PS is now able to use 25 MT coke from coke breeze. As an extra advantage Pakistan Steel is saving about Rs100 million per day by using this coke as a fueling agent in blast furnace.

Acting CEO Pakistan Steel, Engineer Wasif Mehmood approved this substitute planning and strategy presented by the experienced engineers of Pakistan Steel to make use of this Coke Breeze efficiently. A team of Senior Engineers and skilled workers worked on this project.

This experiment has not only opened new ways and ideas to fulfill the need of raw materials on self-reliance basis but also contributed saving of Rs100 million a day. Pakistan Steel has about 0.15 million metric tons of Coke Breeze stock in its yard.
