Pak forex surge to $ 20.703bn

KARACHI: The total liquid foreign exchange reserves of the country stand at $ 20.709 billion, said State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

According to SBP's weekly statement here on Thursday, the

foreign reserves held by State Bank on December 11, amounted $ 15,719.3 million and the net foreign reserves held by other banks were $ 4,990 million.

During the week ending Dec. 11,SBP's liquid foreign reserves increased by $ 278 million to $ 15,719 million, compared to $15,441 million in the previous week.

The increase in reserves is attributed to receipts of $ 300 million on account of long-term syndicated financing for Government of Pakistan.
