Pakistan, Turkey resolve to further strengthen bilateral ties

ASHGABAT: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Saturday discussed bilateral matters, resolving to further cement the ties.

During a meeting here at the fringes of an international conference related to Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, both leaders discussed regional and security issues in the context of Afghan peace process and Syria.

They also expressed satisfaction over the bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed cordial and historical ties.

Pakistan, he said, rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism. The government, the whole nation and the armed forces of Pakistan were united to eliminate this menace.

He also thanked Turkey for extending cooperation in capacity building of the police.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that they felt immense pleasure over the recent progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said the people of Turkey kept the people of Pakistan very close.
