Aamir Sohail stopped from levelling allegations against Sethi

LAHORE: A sessions court on Tuesday stopped former cricketer Aamir Sohail from levelling baseless allegations against Najam Sethi ,Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board's Executive Committee.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Safdar Ali Bhatti passed these orders on a Rs 100 million defamation suit filed by the PCB against Aamir Sohail for levelling allegations against Najam Sethi.

Earlier, PCB's counsel Tafazzul Rizvi arguing before the court submitted that the allegations levelled by Aamir Sohail against Najam sethi were false and it was an attempt to get cheap publicity.

He contended that allegations against Najam were defamatory and claimed Rs 100 million in damages.

However, Aamir Sohail's counsel submitted that the suit was not maintainable as it was not filed by Najam Sethi in personal capacity and the PCB was not authorised to file the suit.

But, the PCB's counsel maintained that Najam Sethi was not only Chairman of the executive committee but also a member of Board of governors of the PCB and the board could file the suit.

The court after hearing arguments of parties stopped Aamir Sohail from levelling baseless allegations against Najam Sethi and adjourned the further hearing till December 21.

Aamir had lambasted Najam Sethi over different issues in recent interviews.
