ECP to depute Rangers at sensitive ICT polling stations

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to depute Rangers at most sensitive polling stations during Local Government (LG) elections in Islamabad to be held on Monday (November 30).

According to an ECP spokesman, around 650 Rangers personnel, one Battalion of Pakistan Army and more than 7000 police workforce would be deployed in 50 union councils of the Islamabad Capital Territory for conducting secure and peaceful elections.

He saud as many as 62 polling station were declared most sensitive and 522 sensitive. The most sensitive polling stations occured in the limits of Karachi Company, Bahra Kahu, Sahal, Noon, Apara, Khana, Shahzad Town, Industrial area, Sabzi Mandi and Golarah police stations, he added.

The spokesman said the ECP had given powers of first class magistrate to presiding officers for conducting transparent and fair elections.
