Summary for recruiting 2,330 teachers sent for approval: NA told

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed Thursday that on the recommendation of Cabinet Division, a summary for filling the vacancies of as many as 2,330 teachers has been sent to finance ministry for approval.

Responding to questions during the question hour, State Minister for Capital Administration and Development, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaurdry said that process for recruitment of 1025 teachers was already going on to overcome the shortage of staff in schools.

The minister assured the house that no injustice would be done with the daily-wage teachers while making recruitment of new teachers.

The minister informed that a summary of Rs.140 million has also been sent to the finance ministry to arrange for the salary of the daily-wage teachers up to the end of current fiscal year (June).

He said that in order to improve the existing infrastructure, the government has allocated Rs.100 million in PSDP-2015-16 for up-gradation of high schools and PC-I of the subject scheme will be submitted after the survey of schools in the capital city very soon.

He was of the view teachers have been engaged on daily wage basis as to stop gap arrangement to fill the shortfall of teaching staff.

To a question, he said the private schools have also returned the additional fees they have charged and are taking fees on old rates.

He said the students from first to matric are not charged fees in schools of federal capital and added that efforts are underway to improve the education standard of public sector schools in the capital.

Tariq Fazal said that for improving the performance of teachers training workshops are being conducted to train them on modern day techniques which is helpful for them while delivering lecture in the classrooms.
