Afridi to defend Pakistan’s T20 ranking

25 Nov, 2015

According to local media report, in a battle between 2009 and 2010, ICC World Twenty20 champions, Pakistan lead eighth-ranked England by 14 points. This means they must win the series to retain second position behind Sri Lanka, who will defend their ICC World Twenty20 title in India from March 11 to April 3, 2016.

However, if England wins the series by 3-0, they will jump to fourth position on 117 points, while Pakistan will drop to sixth on 114 points. Afridi should lead the group to victory to make sure that they keep placed on the second position.

Pakistan bagged the Test series 2-0 under Misbahul Haq’s captaincy, while England beat Azhar Ali and co 3-1 in the ODIs. However, the T20 series will announce the ultimate winner in the tour. Both teams are scheduled to play three T20 games on November 26 (Thursday), 27 (Friday) and 30 (Monday).

The first two games will be played in Dubai and the final in Sharjah’s Sheyikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
