Presidential candidate for FPCCI announces to avail no perks

LAHORE: Presidential candidate for Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Addul Rauf Alam, on Saturday announced to avail no perks, allowances, transport, lodging and any kind of monetary benefits entitled to the post of federation chief, if he was voted to power.

Talking to APP, Abdul Rauf Alam, a former President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and honourary Consul General, Comoros said that overwhelming majority of the business trade leaders across the country belonging to United Business Group led by Iftikhar Ali Malik under the patron-in-chief of S. M. Munir has nominated him for the top slot of the federation.

In clear word, he said that if was voted to power, during his term in office, he would not avail even single penny financial benefit from FPCCI and will bear all expenses from his pocket. He said that S. M. Muneer, Iftikhar Ali Malik and Muhammad Adrees outgoing federation president made a history in trade politics by not availing any perks from the federation during their terms and he wants to emulate the excellent examples set by them.

He said that by the grace of Allah, the UBG was now enjoying overwhelming majority of members in executive committee and general body out of a total strength of 260 in federation. He said that he would accord top priority to interests of the business community and would take up their all legitimate and genuine grievances at concerned forums for early solution.

Abdul Rauf Alam said that he would visit all chambers across the country for direct one on one interaction with office bearers and local trade leaders for having first hand information about the problems. He said that trade leadeshisp of all provinces would be taken on board on all important policy matters.

He said all chambers and affiliated trade bodies would also be taken into confidence in all policy-making decisions of the federation for evolving uniform policy to be presented to top government functionaries. He said that all federation level committees and councils especially women chambers will be made more effective to address the problems being confronted by the private sector.
