Hungarian envoy meets Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE: Hungarian Ambassador in Pakistan, Istvan Szabo here Tuesday called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and discussed with him the matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations, increase cooperation in agriculture, food processing, tourism, culture and industrial sectors.

Talking to the Hungarian Ambassador, the Chief Minister said that there were best friendly relations between Pakistan and Hungary, and Hungarian investors could benefit from vast investment opportunities in Pakistan especially Punjab.

He said that a number of foreign companies were making investment in infrastructure, energy and transport sectors in Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that excellent measures had been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for stability of economy and promotion of investment in the country. He expressed desire to promote cooperation between Hungary and Punjab in agriculture, food processing, tourism, culture and industrial sectors.

Shehbaz Sharif said that work was in progress speedily on China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in Pakistan including Punjab.

He said that CPEC projects would not only benefit Pakistan but the entire region.

Ambassador of Hungary said that Pakistan's economy was improving and there were a number of opportunities for investment. He said that present government had provided a favourable atmosphere for investment in the country and Hungary wanted to benefit from the existing opportunities.

He said that steps would be taken for improving trade and business relations with Punjab government.

He said that Hungary would also give scholarships to Pakistani students for higher education.

Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Chairman Punjab Investment Board, Chief Executive Officer Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Limited and concerned authorities were present on the occasion.
