President for broad-based ties with Norway

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday underscored Pakistan's desire to build a broad-based, substantive and long-term relationship with Norway in all fields including trade, economy and culture.

The President stated this in a meeting with the country's ambassador-designate to Norway Ms. Riffat Masood, who called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The President expressed hope that the ambassador-designate would make all out efforts towards further strengthening the friendly ties between Pakistan and Norway.

The President emphasized that the importance attached by the Pakistani government to its economic agenda needs to be reflected in all diplomatic endeavors.

He underlined the need to highlight Pakistan's investment policy to attract Norwegian investment in diverse areas particularly renewable energy, communication and infrastructure.

He highlighted the need to enhance contacts between parliamentarians of the two countries to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The President advised the ambassador-designate to promote the softer image of Pakistan through exchange of cultural troupes and increased people to people contacts.

He congratulated Ms. Riffat Masood on her appointment as Ambassador of Pakistan to Norway and wished her success in her new assignment.
