MQM files application in LHC against media blackout of Altaf

17 Sep, 2015

LAHORE: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Thursday filed an application in the Lahore High Court with a plea to review its orders regarding ban on broadcast and publication of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain's speeches, activities and pictures.

In a civil miscellaneous application filed through Asma Jehangir, MQM submitted that Altaf Hussain was head of a big political party and the ban imposed on broadcast and publication of Altaf Hussain's activities was in violation of fundamental rights. The party pleaded the court to review its orders.

It is pertinent to mention that a LHC full bench had ordered complete blackout of Altaf Hussain activities while hearing three identical petitions for proceedings against Altaf Hussain under Article 6 of the Constitution, on September 7.
