KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Information & Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Wednesday that in the first round of talks between Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and Maulana Fazul-ur-Rehman, MQM remained positive, adding the second round would be held in Islamabad.

He hoped that the matter of MQM parliamentarians' resignations would be resolved smoothly.

Talking to media persons after meeting American Counsel General Mr. Brian Heath here at his office on Wednesday, Khuhro said that taking the extreme step of resignations was not a solution to the problem as the dialogue is the only solution of every problem.

Lauding the efforts to continue the dialogue even after attack on MQM leader Rashid Godil, he said it shows the maturity of political parties. He said that Karachi operation was started with the mutual understanding of political parties including MQM which will be continued without any discrimination.

He said that attacks on political leaders are a conspiracy to disturb the peace of the city, adding few elements do not want to see a stable democratic process.

Khuhro said that the Sindh government is ready to hold local government elections in the province and it is a responsibility of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce the election date.

He said that parliament is the best forum to raise the voice on peoples' issues.
