Shehbaz for speedy work on Saaf Pani Project

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif directing completion of Saaf Pani Project on war-footing, has warned that no laxity will be tolerated in the completion of the project.

He was presiding over a meeting of Saaf Pani Project here on Monday.

The Chief Minister said, the project was of vital importance for the provision of potable water to the citizens and there was a need for working expeditiously on this project. He said, water had a direct impact on human health, therefore, Saaf Pani Project was of paramount importance. He said, the government was spending a huge amount of Rs 70 billion on this project.

The Chief Minister directed that the Housing and concerned authorities to submit practicable recommendations after considering the best model for rural water supply scheme that have been suspended.

Initially, he said, the clean water project had been launched in four districts Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran and Bahawalpur and it will be expanded to all districts of the province under phased programme.

The Chief Minister appointed Kashif Padhiar MPA as chairman Saaf Pani Company. He said that the condition of third party certification is also compulsory for this project.
