ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar on Wednesday informed National Assembly that there was not report of outbreak of any disease in flood-affected areas of the country.

Responding to a calling attention notice moved by Sheikh Salahuddin, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan and Syed Asif Hasnain regarding out-break of various diseases in flood affected areas in the country and lack of quick response by the government, she said, the ministry of health was working in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to provide all possible assistance to flood affected people.

On request of the Chitral administration, she said, a team of three female doctors had been dispatched there along with required medicines to help the suffering humanity.

She said another team of doctors was providing medical assistance to people in the affected areas of Sindh province.

The minister said, international donor agencies were also coordinating with the ministry to provide assistance to the calamity-hit people.

However, she said, health was the subject of provincial governments but the federal government was providing all possible assistance to them on their request.

Saira Afzal said all pet-animals had been vaccinated by the Punjab government in the flood hit areas.

To another question, she said the Secretaries Health and Irrigation are present in Dera Ghazi Khan for further assistance of people in the flood-ravaged areas.
