Construction work of new Islamabad Airport to be completed by next year, NA told

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Wednesday informed the National Assembly that all construction work of new Islamabad Airport would be completed by next year.

During the question hour in the House, Sheikh Aftab said that so far more than 82 percent construction work of new Islamabad airport had been completed.

Regarding the water problem of the new airport, the minister said the government was planning to construct small dams to resolve the issue, adding that there was no issue of landing of aircrafts.

To another question, he said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will acquire five new aircrafts from Ireland on lease for a period of eighty years.

Sheikh Aftab said that two aircrafts had already been delivered to PIA adding that the remaining three were expected to be delivered soon and these aircraft were being operated on different domestic routes.
