ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Friday underlined the need for improving public dealing at passport offices and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centers across the country.

He directed the authorities concerned to take appropriate measures for instant redressal of public complaints with regard to getting identity cards and passports, said a press release issued by the Interior Ministry.

He warned stern action against the staff showing negligence and misbehaving with public.

Taking strong note of long queues of public at NADRA and passport offices and presence of agent mafia, the minister directed senior officers to visit over 650 offices across the country in August, review their performance and prepare a complete audit report.

Nisar asked the NADRA Chairman and Director General Passport that there must be a visible change and improvement in the performance by next month.

He stressed the need for making the on-line system effective for timely issuance of identity cards and passports to applicants without any queue and delay.

He said the 'home delivery service' should be enforced at the earliest to avoid applicants' frequent visits to NADRA and passport offices.

The minister suggested that the on-line system should be prompt and simple so that the common man as well as expatriate Pakistanis could handle and get benefit of it.

He directed the concerned to keep the agent mafia from the on-line system so that they could not misuse it.

Nisar said the applicants must be kept informed about progress on their applications through text massaging service to facilitate them.
