24 Jul, 2015

CHICAGO: With two successive wins in three of their matches so far, experts here feel that the highly talented Pakistan Street Children Football Team may qualify for the finals of the Kids International Chicago Soccer (KICS) Cup taking place in Chicago.

The Pakistan footballers, playing in KICS Cup for the first time, lost their opening match 0-3 to Costa Rica, but then regrouped to clinch the next two games -- against GFC Mustangs 1-0 and RB United 2-0. The two teams against whom the green shirts won are US under-16 club teams.

Two hundred teams of young girls and boys from US and all over the world are participating in the tournament. Around 15 international teams from 12 countries are to take part in this multinational and multicultural event.

The young team representing Pakistan finished as second runners up in the 2014 Street children football World Cup in Brazil.

A large number of Pakistanis are turning out at the stadium to support their team, along with Consul General Faisal Tirimzi
