Chairman, members of NCHR appointed: Senate told

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Pervaiz Rashid informed the Senate on Wednesday that Chairman and members of National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) had been appointed and the Commission would be able to start functioning very soon.

He was responding to Calling Attention Notice of Agha Shahbaz Khan Durrani regarding non-provision of funds and other facilities like transport, office, office-staff etc, to the National Commission for Human Rights due to which the Commission is not working properly.

The Minister said Chairman and members of the NCHR had been

appointed except one member from FATA whom nomination was still awaited.

He said that office had been allotted to the Commission in the Cabinet Division while Rs five million had been allocated for office expenditure for the current fiscal year.

The Minister said that all other expenditures of the Commission would also be born by the government and the Commission would be able to start functioning very soon.
