As the date arrives, nerves and excitement were surely building for the wedding of the year, Shahid Kapoor’s marriage to Mira Rajput which was suppose to take place on Tuesday evening. But, the couple tied the knot in Gurgaon in a morning ceremony. Only close friends and family were present at the venue, which was not a hotel as earlier reported.

The wedding was a low-key affair and only 40 guests have been invited to the ceremony.

According to Indian media reports, sources confirmed 30-40 guests were present when Mira, 21, and Shahid, 34, exchanged their vows at a close friend's house. Details of marriage have been kept under wraps. The couple is now heading to Oberoi in Gurgaon where a wedding reception is slated to take place in the evening with over 500 guests present.

On Monday, Shahid was seen on bended knee, serenading Mira, at their wedding sangeet. The image which went viral on social media saw the ‘Haider’ actor wearing a red Kunal Rawal bandhgala ensemble while Mira looked beautiful in a lime yellow Anamika Khanna lehenga. The picture was posted by Shahid’s good friend, photographer Rohan Shreshtha, Hindustan Times reported.

After an intimate wedding, another grand reception will be he held in Mumbai on July 12, which will have the industry’s crème-de-la-crème in attendance.
