PM voices concern over hockey team's poor performance

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday expressed concern over the embarrassing performance of Pakistan's Hockey team in World Hockey League leading to team's disqualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

According to a PM House statement, the Prime Minister, who is also the Patron in Chief of Pakistan Hockey Federation, sought explanation from the PHF officials and the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination that how a three-time gold medalist team plunged so low in performance.

He also asked them to firm up recommendations for uplift of the country's national sport, with an aim to regain its past glory.
