25 Jun, 2015

The three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja comprising Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed and Justice Maqbool Baqar heard the case about the performance of the National Accountability Bureau.

During the case proceedings, Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt submitted report about registered complaints, inquiries and references in the NAB.

The Attorney General said that as many as 64728 complaints were registered and 5100 inquiries were held during the last four years.

The NAB official also submitted a report about the performance of NAB which was declared insufficient and incomplete.

The court expressed displeasure over late submission of report and remarked that it should be submitted earlier so that the court could review it.

Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja remarked that NAB and the Supreme Court has same agenda to end corruption from the society.

He remarked that the court ordered NAB to setup monitoring system but it failed to establish any system.

The court wanted to see NAB an activated anti-corruption institution, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja observed.
