No mercy for spurious medicines traders: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here Wednesday chaired a meeting to review crackdown against elements involved in business of spurious medicines.

The Chief Minister said the heinous trade of spurious drugs would be controlled in the province and a vigorous crackdown had been launched for this purpose. He said that he will personally monitor the crackdown against spurious medicines, adding that elements playing with human lives deserve maximum punishment and will be shown no leniency.

The Chief Minister issued instructions for early disposal of the pending cases against those involved in spurious medicines and said that the elements involved in the production and sale of spurious medicines are enemies of humanity and will be dealt with an iron hand.

Shahbaz Sharif directed that deterrent action should be taken against the owners of the factories producing spurious drugs. He said that every effort will be made for complete elimination of the nefarious trade of production and sale of spurious medicines and directed that indiscriminate action should be taken against the persons involved.

The Chief Minister appreciated the effective action taken by Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh. Imran Nazir, Member Provincial Assembly Qazi Adnan Farid and District Coordination Officer Lahore against those involved in the heinous business of spurious drugs.

Advisor on Health Kh. Salman Rafique Parliamentary Health on Health Kh. Imran Nazir, Member Provincial Assembly Qazi Adnan Farid, Secretary Health, Secretary Prosecutions, Prosecutor General Punjab, Director FIA and concerned officials were present in the meeting.
