LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed bail application of an accused involved in a Rs 1,200,000 electricity theft case.

The single bench comprising Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi heard the bail application of accused, Rana Iftikhar.

Earlier, the petitioner's counsel arguing before the court submitted that Munawah police had registered a power theft case against his client for stealing electricity for tube well in 2014. He said the accused was not involved in the theft as he had leased out his agriculture land along with tube well and other facilities for past three years. He pleaded the court to grant benefit of bail to him.

However, an additional prosecutor opposed the request and submitted the accused was found guilty during the investigation. He said a detection bill of Rs 1,200,000 was sent but the accused only paid Rs 50,000. Concerned SDO ALi Raza and XEN Tahir were also present during the hearing.

The court after hearing the arguments dismissed the bail application.
